Gehring Professor Zaher Hani, together with his collaborator Yu Deng (UChicago) has received a 2026 Clay Research Award from the Clay Mathematics Institute. They are being recognized for their remarkable derivation of the Boltzmann equation for long times, starting from a system of hard spheres. The award celebrates the outstanding achievements of the world’s most gifted mathematicians.
