Daniel Forger, the Robert W. and Lynn H. Browne Professor in Science, Director of MCAIM, and Professor of Mathematics, has been named a 2026 Guggenheim Fellow. He is one of only four new Guggenheim Fellows at UM, and among 223 recipients throughout the U.S. and Canada. He is being recognized for his project that uses applied mathematics to better understand music. Awarded annually since 1925 by the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, the prestiguious fellowships are considered a major honor. The are awarded to mid-career academics, artists, and scientists who have shown exceptional productivity or creative promise in their fields.
