Professor Lydia Bieri has been elected as a Fellow of the American Physical Society. The number of APS Fellows elected each year is limited to no more than one half of one percent of the membership. It is a prestigious recognition by her peers of her outstanding contributionsto physics. The citation on her certificate will state: “For fundamental results on global existence of solutions of the Einstein field equations,and for many contributions to the understanding of gravitational wave memory.”
