Advising

Advising Appointments

We recommend that math majors talk to a Math Department advisor before registering for courses each term, before making any program changes, and before leaving to study abroad.

The Math Department’s faculty advisors are happy to help guide the mathematical development of students interested in mathematics. Navigating the mathematical landscape can be tricky, math offers one-on-one faculty advising.

If you wish to:

please schedule an appointment. Advising appointments are generally not available on observed holidays, study days and throughout the Spring and Summer terms.

If you have questions about transfer credit evaluation, please do not ask a math department advisor; they will not be able to help you.  Instead, please visit the Math Department’s transfer credit website.

Drop-In Advising

Drop-in advising with math's Undergraduate Program Director, Dr. Hanna Bennett, is available Fridays 2-3pm in the East Hall Math Upper Atrium. Look for her yellow drop-in advising sign.

Walk-In Advising

Walk-in advising with Professor Stephen DeBacker is available every weekday during the walking club's 6:05 am walk and every Sunday at either the 6:30 am or 8:30 am walk. Walks are four to five miles long, plan accordingly. For details about where to meet, please join the walking club's Discord server.
