James S. Milne, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics, will receive the AMS Leroy P. Steele Prize for Mathematical Exposition for his “extensive corpus of excellent expository works” on his website. Milne joined the UM mathematics department in 1969, retired in 1999, and still participates in department seminars. He has been assembling the information on his website since 1996. It  now contains over 2,000 pages of notes and expository articles, covering a wide range of topics within algebra and number theory. Milne will be recognized at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in January.
