The 2025 class of the ELI’s Summer EAP Intensive Program brought together a fabulous cohort of newly admitted U-M graduate and professional students who spent six weeks together honing their academic communication skills as well as exploring the U-M campus, Ann Arbor, and Detroit.
Participants in this highly engaging program explored the area and practiced using English outside the classroom through many cultural events and excursions. These events included tours of U-M museums, downtown Ann Arbor, and even the Big House–a student favorite, for sure. Another program highlight was the day trip to Detroit where students enjoyed a walking tour of the downtown area and the acclaimed Detroit Institute of Art. Students and their families also participated in a Contra Dance to celebrate the end of the Summer EAP program.
A program participant had this to say about their experience in Summer EAP: “Each class was well connected and mutually helped me recognize the English skills I needed. The program gave me the chance to settle into life in Ann Arbor and at UMich, which made starting my academic year much smoother.”
