Online Pre-Arrival Course: Preparing for Graduate Success

Open to Newly-Admitted International Graduate Students in All U-M Schools and Colleges*

Join other new Michigan graduate students in this highly-interactive four-week online course led by an experienced ELI faculty member. The flexible 'asynchronous" course structure means that you can complete assignments at any time of the day or night as long as you meet weekly deadlines. 

  • Review and practice English for study, research, and life on campus 
  • Learn about the cultural expectations of graduate study and research in the U.S.
  • Refine your language skills and build confidence using English through online discussions
  • Receive extensive individualized feedback from the instructor
  • Build friendships and learn about resources to support you when you arrive on campus
