33rd Hayward Keniston Lecture: Why Epistemologies of the South?

Wednesday, November 12, 2014
5:00 AM
Michigan League, Hussey Room

Professor Boaventura de Sousa Santos will develop three main ideas. First, the understanding of the world by far exceeds the western understanding of the world. Second, there is no global social justice without global cognitive justice. Third, the emancipatory transformation in the world may follow grammars and script other than those developed by western-centric critical theory, and such diversity should be valorized.
