Scholarships

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures offers study abroad scholarships ranging from $500 to $3,000 based on strength of application and scholarship criteria. 

Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Students must be an active student at U of M Ann Arbor
  • Most of our scholarships are limited to and/or have strong preference for: declared majors or minors in a Romance language, CGIS programs affiliated with our department, programs conducted in a Romance language, Romance language programs at the intermediate-advanced level (300/400).
  • Students who have been accepted into an international internship through CGIS should feel encouraged to apply. Applications must be received during spring/summer scholarship timeline.
    • Only internships that have been reviewed and accepted by a faculty advisor for major/minor credit within RLL are eligible to receive scholarship funding.
  • Students must apply within the application periods noted below, students who are already abroad will not be eligible for consideration.
  • Preference is given to students with financial need, however, all students should feel encouraged to apply.

Application Windows:

Fall/Academic year programs:  January 1 through the second Friday in March. Scholarship decisions will be sent out by mid-April.

Winter term programs: September 27 through mid October. Scholarship decisions will be sent out in November.

Spring/Summer term programs: January 1 through the second Friday in February. Scholarship decisions will be sent out by mid-March.
