Human Rights and Sustainable Development within the Global Value Chains of the Garment Industry
My interests in the fashion industry, human rights, and environmental sustainability have guided me in the development of my OS pathway. Through my pathway, I will gain a richer understanding of the leading corporations in the fashion industry, their operations, and their impact on workers, the environment, and the surrounding communities. Most importantly, the OS program will give me the opportunity to explore solutions to the human and workers’ rights violations and environmental pollution often linked to these multinational corporations (MNC).
My double major in International Studies has given me the opportunity to learn about the different international organizations and multilateral agreements that influence MNCs. While my IS major allows me to explore the global political and economic context, my OS pathway will allow me to learn more about the inner workings of these corporations.The interdisciplinary nature of OS gives me the opportunity to explore how sustainable business can be built through CSR along with other legal mechanisms.
