Human Centered Strategy in Organizations
When on the hunt for prospective colleges a a high school junior, Organizational Studies is what first drew me to Michigan. By the time I got here, I was already eager for my second semester of sophomore year when I could finally apply. However, before then, I had been exploring these themes elsewhere. As VP of Wellness for one of my clubs, I got to think seriously about what wellness programming actually looks like in practice and why it matters for the people inside an organization. Through a student-led consulting project focused on employee wellness at Ross, I learned how to take those ideas and present them as real, actionable strategy. And through the ODESI Lab, a research lab that partners with companies and nonprofits to tackle real organizational challenges, I've gotten hands-on experience with how research continues to contribute to these ideas.
Positive organizational scholarship, human capital and HR strategy, and mental health advocacy have all been key pillars that I have gravitated towards studying to prompt meaningful change in the workplace. The most effective HR professionals and consultants are the ones who understand the psychological side of organizational life, not just the operational side, and that's what I'm building toward. With my major in Organizational Studies, I want to work in HR strategy or organizational consulting, helping companies build cultures where mental health and positive organizational culture aren't an afterthought, but a foundation for success.
