Human-Focused Creative Industry (Animation)
I am specifically interested in the organizations within the creative animation field: the industries, the studios, the unions– the organizations of leaders and workers collaborating to create grand and spectacular works of art under long, arduous productions. I want to learn how they maintain these kinds of large-scale projects within large teams of creative people; how they might ensure the success of a studio in a shifting, contentious industry; how these different organizations interact with one another to care for their members. While I am a strong proponent for industry growth and efficiency, I care deeply about the people and creative workers within that industry, and the companies’ responsibilities towards them and their world. As such, I have a strong interest in the Corporate Social Responsibility and Entertainment/Media/Arts pathways– with a focus on bringing ethical consideration to a hungry entertainment industry. OS courses like Leadership and Collaboration, Organizational Wrongdoing, and Negotiations will prepare me to advocate for artists’ rights within studios. Moreover, with the freedom of the OS curriculum, I can take specialized courses such as Media Industries, Business Strategy, Media Law and Policy to research and apply business trends, organizational psychology, and regulation to create a more creative, efficient, and healthy system for the hardworking artists behind popular entertainment products.
