Solving Organizational Misalignment
I am interested in understanding how ideas move through organizations, from the perspective of a decision-maker to their real-world consequences. A CEO may have a clear vision shaped by their incentives and constraints, but the process of turning that idea into policy often introduces inefficiencies, misalignment, or unintended outcomes. I want to study why policies are created in the first place, how they are implemented, and where breakdowns occur between intention and execution.
To do this, I plan to use psychology to understand how individuals make decisions, sociology to examine how those decisions are interpreted and acted on within groups, and economics to evaluate whether those policies actually make sense through cost-benefit analysis. I am particularly interested in identifying when a policy is fundamentally flawed versus when it fails due to poor implementation. Through this pathway, I hope to develop the ability to diagnose organizational decisions and improve them, ultimately preparing me for a career in consulting where solving these kinds of problems is central.
