Improving Government Services and Driving Increased Community Representation in Policymaking Spaces
My OS Pathway focuses on the intersection of public policy, advocacy, and organizational strategy. Ultimately, I hope to improve government services to better meet all constituents' needs and advance equity for historically underrepresented communities by increasing their access to policymaking spaces.
I believe that creating organizational pathways for equitable education opportunities and political representation is essential for developing legislation that effectively responds to the needs of all Americans. I have been further exploring this topic through my senior honors thesis, which examines how college students' educational resources and racial identities influence their aspirations to work in politics and public service.
By double majoring in Organizational Studies and Political Science, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of how American legislation is shaped, passed, and implemented. I would also like to learn about how the actual implementation of legislation may fall short of its intended outcomes, as well as what can be done to minimize this and create impactful, equity-driven results for all communities. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in government affairs, consulting for the civic or public sectors, or strategic communications.
