About
Melissa Menta is a second-year law student with a long-term goal of running a sports team.
Prior to law school, Melissa spent seven years at the National Football League in New York City, working in the Player Operations department. In her role, she helped current and former players elevate their brands, develop off-field opportunities, and managed partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
At Michigan Law, Melissa serves as President of the Sports Law Society and is a member of First-Generation Law Students. Outside of law school, she is a Venture Capital Fellow and Non-MBA Chair for the Zell Lurie Commercialization Fund at the Ross School of Business, a student-led VC fund investing in early-stage startups. Last summer, Melissa interned at Roark Capital, a private equity firm in Atlanta. This coming summer, she will be working at Simpson Thacher in New York, focusing on corporate and transactional law.
Melissa grew up in the suburbs of New York and graduated from New York University in 2016, where she was a two-time captain and school record holder for the women’s varsity soccer team. In her free time, she enjoys running, skiing, watching anime, and listening to Blink-182.
