About
Charlie Brown is an empirically-oriented Labor Economist. His research has focused on topics such as compensating differentials, effects of minimum wage laws and of EEO policies, the determinants of enlistment and re-enlistment in the military, and the relationship between employer size and labor market outcomes.
His current research focuses on (1) measurement error in survey data, (2) incentives provided by pension plans, early-retirement "windows" and merit pay for workers nearing retirement, and (3) the academic success of children of Black soldiers. He is also a Research Professor Emeritus at the Survey Research Center, where he a co-investigator with the Panel Study of Income Dynamics and the Health and Retirement Study.
