While researching various organizations to focus their final OS305 project on, Tara Petersen, Josie Graham, Maryam Masood, Sara Apelbaum, and Rahima Jamal found themselves inspired by the organization Kiva, a nonprofit that provides microloans for individuals, small businesses, and communities in need of financial support across the globe.
When their group presented to their classmates about Kiva, the Junior Cohort decided to take action. Together, the cohort raised $200 to provide loans of $50 to 4 borrowers in need of financial assistance for their businesses, education, and livelihoods. In spite of the challenges of this unique year, the Junior Cohort continues to impress by giving back to those both in the local community and around the globe.
