The University of Michigan will once again take part in a 24-hour fundraising campaign benefiting hundreds of organizations on campus and beyond during its fifth annual Giving Blueday. This year's Giving Blueday lasts from midnight to 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27. (All links on page will be active as soon as the clock strikes midnight)

Every gift is important and makes a difference in the Department’s ability to provide unique opportunities for students and faculty. One such opportunity was presented in September to the group of doctoral students who attended the Graduate Student Summit For Diversity In Economics at UC Berkeley, which brought together graduate students and researchers from a range of institutions to start building networks of young researchers working to improve diversity in the discipline. Students come back to U-M energized and ready to apply what they learned to our own DEI initiatives saying that it was an "inspiring and jam-packed experience.” This opportunity was made possible by your gifts to LSA Economics! To help support future opportunities in the Department of Economics, please donate to the Economics Strategic Fund (321375).

Your gift, no matter the size, will make a difference. During each hour of GBD, challenges will be posted throughout the U-M social media channels at the university, school, department, and organizational level. These challenges provide fun and engaging ways to spread the word about your involvement at U-M and about donations made, including opportunities to have donations matched.

In the Department of Economics, we are focusing our Giving Blueday efforts in these important areas of student and faculty engagement:

  • Student Academic Engagement and Development
  • Academic Programs and Activities
  • Innovative and Transformative Research Experiences
  • Educational Program Enrichment

Remember, “Practice Economics at Any Cost!"
