Peter Hooper presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, presented Peter Hooper III, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is an acknowledgement of his myriad achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has earned in his field.

Managing Director and Chief Economist of Deutsche Bank Securities in New York City since 1999, Dr. Hooper leads a top-ranked economics team, producing periodic and special publications for Deutsche Bank and its clients globally. Previously, he built a 26-year career at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C.

A founding member of the U.S. Monetary Policy Forum, Dr. Hooper also served a 10-year term as a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York Economic Advisory Panel. He currently serves as a member and former chairman of the American Bankers Association Economic Advisory Committee, a director of the Forecasters Club of New York, a member of the Economic Club of New York, and a member of the University of Michigan's Economic Leadership Council.

Dr. Hooper earned an undergraduate degree, cum laude in economics, at Princeton University in 1969; an MA and PhD in economics and econometrics at the University of Michigan in 1971 and 1975, respectively. He was a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., from 1988 to 1989, and has authored and coauthored numerous books, professional journal articles, and Princeton Studies in International Finance. One of his co-authored books, “Empirical Macroeconomics for Interdependent Economies,” published by Brookings in 1988, was awarded a prize for “Best book in social sciences” for that year by the Association of American Publishers. Another, “Evaluating Policy Regimes,” published by Brookings in 1993, presented path-breaking research on monetary policy rules.

Paul T. Browne, AB '85

Paul Browne appointed Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Henry Ford Health System

Paul Browne was recently appointed Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Henry Ford Health System.

Previously at Tenet Healthcare, he was the Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Applied Informatics, responsible for all aspects of information services across the entire publicly traded healthcare system. He also worked for Trinity Health as the Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President for Strategic Program Development.

In 2007, Browne was recognized by ComputerWorld, receiving the “Premier 100 IT Leaders Award.” This award is presented to those who have used technology to positively impact their organization. He has also been named a “Top 50 Innovator” across all industries and “Top 5 Innovator” in health care by InformationWeek.  During his career, Browne has authored numerous articles and lectured extensively at national symposiums focusing on IT strategy and innovation.

Browne is a graduate of the University of Michigan with both a bachelor’s degree in economics and master’s degree in health services administration.

 

Gerald Christopher Bialek, AB '88

Gerald "Jerry" Bialek named Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. Vice President and Treasurer

Jerry Bialek has been elected Vice President & Treasurer of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. by the company’s board of directors. He will continue to lead investor relations for the company.

Bialek joined Cooper in 2014 as Director of Global Financial Planning and Analysis, and a year later was named Director of Investor Relations and Strategic Planning. In 2017, he was promoted to the position of Vice President, Finance & Strategy, supporting Cooper’s Asia operations. In this role, he continued leadership of the company’s investor relations function.

Prior to Cooper, Bialek held a variety of finance leadership positions within the automotive industry, including 18 years with Ford Motor Company, as well as roles with Johnson Controls and Taica North America Corporation.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan and a master’s in business administration, finance, from Oakland University, Rochester, Mich.
