Global U Internships

Global U Internships helps students secure in-country or remote internships in Europe, Asia, and America. By connecting students with international companies, they prepare students for the workplace, help to develop critical skills of professional development, and cultivate an understanding of business and process in the intern’s respective country.

Global U programs also include coaching for host company interviews and application guidance, scheduling for the host company interview, visa processing assistance, on-program support, and an international alum network spanning various industries including Healthcare, Marketing, Architecture, Consulting, Engineering, Public Relations, Business Development and more.

Examples of positions with Global U include a three-month Neuroscience Internship in Costa Rica, where students will undergo comprehensive onboarding to learn about the general field of neuroscience and the technology associated with it while conducting research and building relationships with medical professionals. Or, in Singapore, find a 3-6 month Marketing and Communications internship if you are interested in the digital marketing space, content creation, journalism, social media and community management, the facilitation of a group of content writers, and building strategies to boost an organization's impact.

IES Abroad

IES works with students to match their career interests to an appropriate global internship experience that also takes into account their preferences for fields, locations, and duration.  Students can expect to intern for eight weeks on average over the summer or 12 to 14 weeks during fall or spring semester with hours that are typical of full-time work — so students can make the most of the time in their new city.

Alongside an internship, students can enroll in a for-credit seminar to put your internship into professional and cultural contexts and learn from other interns' experiences. During the summer and in select locations, you can even opt into a three-credit foreign language course at no extra cost. Students will intern, explore the culture around them, and succeed in their future careers.

Past IES internships have included Parliamentary Internships in London, where students researched upcoming policies, created proposals for policy changes, document constituent concerns, and assisted in event management for a member of Parliament office. Students have also had the opportunity to learn about consulting in Shanghai—working to improve client’s processes and business strategy—and web and game design in Vienna, working for a historical institute dedicated to preserving 20th Century, Jewish family stories across Europe through a first-of-its-kind interactive database.=

Before you embark on your internship experience, IES Internships Coordinators work with you to perfect your résumé, cover letter, and interview skills so you can put your best foot forward with potential employers. IES also offers pre-departure advising, on-site orientation, internship seminar, language course, and cultural events will prepare you for and introduce you to the city and culture in which you’ll be interning.

You’ll not only gain professional skills, but a new perspective. Learn more here.
