LSA Economics - 2023
Meet Sharon Ma, a 2023 alum who studied Economics at U-M LSA. In this video, Sharon shares her experience as a first-generation, low-income college student, breaking down barriers and harnessing the power of access to purposeful opportunities that the Hub provides.
During her time at LSA, Sharon used nearly every LSA Opportunity Hub resource, emphasizing the value of meeting with a Career Coach for résumé, cover letter, and mock interview help. Facing the challenges of being a first-generation student with limited access to career information and social capital, Sharon found her lifeline in Hub coaching.
LSA Engage, the college’s career services platform, became Sharon's gateway to numerous opportunities, including her internship at Sage Corps, gaining early business development experience in an industry she aspired to enter. Since then, her experience has helped her land a position at a nationwide banking company as an Associate Product Manager. She attributes her success to the people and platforms of the Opportunity Hub, acknowledging their support in navigating the corporate world and building up her professional competencies.
