Tony Bloch, the Alexander Ziwet Collegiate Professor of Mathematics, has been named the 2026 recipient of the W. T. and Idalia Reid Prize from the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. He is recognized for his deep scientific contributions to geometric mechanics and control theory, particularly for nonholonomic dynamics and control. Established in 1994, the prize is awarded annually in the broadly-defined areas of differential equations and control theory.
