Hermanus Trip Views

Don't Forget to Pack: Warm clothes- although this program takes place during our Summer Break, it is winter in South Africa, and it gets pretty cold!!

Best Left at Home: Many bathings suits. You'll probably only have 1 or 2 days where it's even remotely warm enough to go swimming.

Best Eats in the Area: The Oranjezicht City Farm & Market on Saturdays. Has a bunch of mini shops with great food

Favorite Local Activity: Hiking!!! There are so many different hikes at different difficulty levels that all show the beauties of Cape Town

Where to Study: Bootlegger Coffee Company or Honest Chocolate Cafe!

Must-Try Local Dish: Malva pudding is a staple desert & is delicious!

Best Photo Op: Any of the hikes. I especially liked the view from Devil's peak

Your Biggest Fail: Constantly being cold because I did not pack the right clothes

Buy This: An umbrella!!!! You will have like a week+ of rain and thunderstorms.

Not That: Name brand clothes in the malls. There are so many mini shops that you can buy clothes from for very cheap.

Most Interesting Class: Nutrition & HIV was great, and the professor was very insightful!

Best Part of the Program: The initial Hermanus trip. Was a really great way to get to know all of my cohort and see the beauties South Africa has to offer.

Unforgettable Weekend Trips: Stellenbosch is not too far from Cape Town and is like a mini get-away! Very serene city with many wineries.

Bonus Pro Tip/s: Never say no while you are abroad. Take advantage of every opportunity to make the most out of your time there!
