What made you choose UROP?

UROP was my pathway into enrollment at UMICH

What do you think you have learned from your UROP experience?

I learned that people are more valuable than possessions, and that there is a lot more gray in life than the white and black narrative that our capitalistic society perpetuates.

What is the extent to which you have kept in contact with your Research Mentor?

She is like my second mom to this day.

How did your UROP experience shape or inform the next steps you took in your academic and professional journey?

My UROP experience etched in my mind why I am in academia and is a reminder to keep my fire burning when I get weary.

Where are you in your professional journey?

I am a graduate student at Harvard University and I am a published author.

What advice would you give to a current UROP student?

Be you. Stay true to yourself. Because if not careful, this world will make you forget your essence.

What are some recent publications or accomplishments that you are proud of?

Published my first book of poetry. Completed a program at acting school.

Is there any other advice you would like to impart to current or future UROP students?
