Christoph Boehm, Aaron Flaaen and Nitya Pandalai-Nayar, all U-M Economics Ph.D. recipients or candidates, received the 2015 World Trade Organization’s Essay Award for Young Economists. Their paper studied the role that global supply chains play in the cross-country transmission of shocks.
The selection panel praised their work, saying that it “contributes importantly to our understanding of the way shocks are propagated through the modern global economy. Its findings are striking, but convincing and have important implications not only for trade and FDI, but also for international macro.”
