The research project "Health Decision-Making in the Aftermath of Disaster" seeks to shed light on the consequences for health decision-making of a major disaster -- 2019's Cyclone Idai in Mozambique -- and how public health programs may shield communities from disaster impacts. The study recently received funding of $3.2 million over five years from NIH NICHD. Dr. Yang is the study's Principal Investigator. Co-investigators on the project are Dr. James Riddell IV (Michigan Medicine), Dr. Tanya Rosenblat (economics department and School of Information) and Dr. Arlete Mahumane (Mozambique National Institute of Health). The project team also includes economics department Ph.D. student James Allen IV and 2020 economics Ph.D. graduate Hang Yu (now an assistant professor at Peking University).
