MAE Graduate: Fall 2014
Economist, The Bank of Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
What were your educational/career goals when you applied to the MAE Program? My educational goal was to get master's degree in the United States. My career goal was to work in an international organization.
Why did you decide to pursue your MAE degree at the University of Michigan? First of all, UMICH is one of the best universities in the US and the Department of Economics is among the top. My undergraduate school was all about theories and I didn't have a chance to understand how they were applied in real life. This program exposes you to the applied side of economics and which was another reason to pursue MAE degree.
What did you enjoy most about the MAE Program? Almost everything I learned in the MAE program was applicable. The professors were awesome!! My classmates were smart!! It was definitely a great learning environment.
How has your MAE degree contributed to your work today? A lot. In a developing country like Mongolia, we do not apply economics as much as in the developed countries. I certainly learned the tools to individually develop in my field and apply what I learn on daily basis.
