Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship

The Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship supports outstanding doctoral students who have achieved candidacy and are actively working on dissertation research and writing. We seek to support students working on dissertation that are unusually creative, ambitious and risk-taking.

Recipients:

David van Dijcke (Fall 2024 - Winter 2025)

David van Dijcke is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in Economics.  Before coming to Michigan, where he also completed an MA in Economics, he received a degree in Theatre from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Ghent and degrees in Philosophy, Economics, and Economic Policy from KU Leuven. Most of David’s research focuses on Big Data and econometric tools as new ways to understand industrial organization and political economy. He has been cited in publications such as The Washington Post and Charter (a partner of TIME Magazine) for his work on the impact of return-to-office mandates on tech companies. Outside of his work as a Ph.D. student, David serves as a consultant for Ispos Public Affairs (who help to support his research) and as an academic visitor at the Bank of England.
