About
Marilyn is a Fall 25 LSA graduate who majored in Program in the Environment and International Studies Global Environment and Health. She studied abroad in Whakatiwai, New Zealand in Winter (New Zealand Summer) of 2025, learning all about ecology and sustainability during her field work based classes. She ended her semester with a month-long research project where she studied long term dynamics of a local wetland in response to climate change. In her weekends abroad, she explored New Zealand’s great biodiversity and rugged landscapes, learned about Māori culture, and took advantage of New Zealand being the adventure capital of the world. Marilyn is currently researching historic shoreline development along Great Lakes shorelines and in her free time she loves hiking, climbing, kayaking, and reading a good book with a nice cup of coffee. In the future she plans to work seasonally for a couple years and hopes to backpack around the world.
