MAE Graduate: Winter 2014
Associate Director, Santander
Dallas, Texas, USA
What were your educational/career goals when you applied to the MAE Program? I wanted to work in quantitative finance, specifically with financial derivative products.
Why did you decide to pursue your MAE degree at the University of Michigan? The financial engineering program was closing so I transferred into the MAE because I enjoyed the flexibility in class selection.
What did you enjoy most about the MAE Program? The best part of the MAE program is the class flexibility and the students.
How has your MAE degree contributed to your work today? The most valuable class from the program was a financial engineering stats class I took which included time-series. Time-series is crucial in the current job market.
What advice do you have for MAE graduates looking for a job or internship? Work on building your career a minimum of an hour a week but I would shoot for 5 hours per week. The more you dedicate to your career the better your chances of getting a job or internship. You should be on LinkedIn and networking as much as possible.
