Common Equipment

Biophysics Common Equipment at the University of Michigan offers access to over half a million dollars in advanced scientific instruments on a cost-sharing basis, designed to foster collaborative research and innovation. Our collection features cutting-edge devices like the TA Instruments Nano ITC Gold Low Volume and the Wyatt DynaPro NanoStar II, each providing essential analytical capabilities to support scientific exploration. Access to these instruments requires mandatory training to ensure their optimal and safe use. For information on our equipment and instructions on reserving time, visit our Common Equipment page.

SMART Center (Single Molecule Analysis in Real-Time)

The goal of the SMART Center is to develop a university-wide initiative in the emerging area of single molecule technology.  This includes single molecule spectroscopy (SMS) and imaging (SMI), laser tweezers (LT), and atomic force microscopy (AFM), and can bring basic scientists, engineers, and clinical researchers together to apply this technology to the most relevant questions in medicine and nanotechnology.
