Awards

Biophysics undergraduate students may be eligible for awards and fellowships through the Biophysics Program, LSA, and the University of Michigan.

These awards recognize students for academic achievement, research, service, and other accomplishments. Students are encouraged to review the opportunities below and apply for awards that match their academic work and interests.

Students with double majors may also qualify for awards in their other academic department. Students should visit their other department’s website to learn about additional award opportunities.

Biophysics Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award

The Biophysics Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award is presented each spring to a senior Biophysics major.

This award recognizes outstanding achievement in the following areas:

  • Academic performance
  • Research accomplishments, such as lab research, conference presentations, or an honors thesis
  • Service to the Biophysics Program
  • Service to the University of Michigan community, such as participation in the Biophysics Club, recruiting activities, or outreach

LSA offers several honors and awards for undergraduate students at the University of Michigan.

These may include:

LSA Honors Program Summer Fellowship

The LSA Honors Program Summer Fellowship gives upper-division LSA students the opportunity to spend a summer in Ann Arbor working on their thesis or Honors in Engaged Liberal Arts, also known as HELA, project.

Students who participate in the fellowship can:

  • Focus on thesis or HELA work
  • Collaborate with students from other disciplines
  • Engage in research
  • Contribute to public scholarship
  • Build community with other Honors students

LSA Honors Program Graduation Awards

The Honors Graduation Awards recognize outstanding Honors students at graduation.

Biophysics students may be especially eligible for two Goldstein Prize awards:

  • Jerome and Isabella Karle Physical Sciences Award
  • Marshall Nirenberg Life Sciences Award
