Awards

Biophysics undergraduates can discover a variety of awards and fellowships on this page. We celebrate the exceptional accomplishments of our students with opportunities that include both awards and fellowships managed by the Biophysics program, as well as notable external recognitions from LSA and the University. We encourage you to explore these options and apply for those that align with your academic achievements.

Please note that, in addition to the awards listed below, students with double majors may qualify for awards in their other department. We encourage you to visit the respective department's website for more opportunities.

Biophysics Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award

Each spring, this award recognizes a senior biophysics major for their outstanding academic merit, research performance (lab research, conference presentations, honors thesis, etc.), and service to the program and UM community (Biophysics Club, participation in recruiting activities, other outreach activities).

Students can be nominated by their PI or other Biophysics personnel and must have an additional letter of support from another faculty member. The Undergraduate Affairs Committee is responsible for the final selection, highlighting the awardees at the Undergraduate Graduation Reception.

  • Award Amount: $500 (or $250 each if split between two students).
  • Timeline: Nominations sought in early March, with a deadline in late March, and the winner announcement during the May ceremony. For 2025, the deadline is March 24, 2025.
