Biophysics Undergraduate Travel Grants help Biophysics majors participate in professional activities related to their academic field.
Students may use these grants to support travel to Biophysics-related conferences where they are presenting their work.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a Biophysics Undergraduate Travel Grant, students must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be a Biophysics major at the University of Michigan.
- Be actively involved in a Biophysics-related research group through one of the following:
- Enrollment in BIOPHYS 399
- Enrollment in BIOPHYS 499
- Lab employment, including temporary employment or work-study
- Lab research without course credit or pay
- Present a talk, paper, or poster at a Biophysics-related conference
Examples of eligible conferences include the Biophysical Society Annual Meeting and other conferences related to Biophysics.
Note: Preference is given to students who are employed in a lab or enrolled in BIOPHYS 399 or BIOPHYS 499.
Grant Details
Each travel grant provides $300.
Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Students may receive one travel grant per fiscal year. The fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30.
Each student’s research group is expected to cover any remaining travel costs.
The number of awards may depend on available funding. The Biophysics Program will make every effort to support as many requests as possible each year.
