Biophysics Preview

Fall Event for Prospective Graduate Students

Date: August 26, 2020

APPLY NOW! (deadline: August 7)

We are sorry that we cannot host this event in Ann Arbor, as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic makes an in-person event unlikely. Our 2020 Preview program will be held remotely

With that in mind, we have reimagined the Biophysics Preview as an online interactive experience where attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Interact one-on-one with faculty and current graduate students
  • Explore different areas of biophysical research
  • Learn more about applying to graduate school

What is Biophysics Preview?

We will invite approximately 3-6 highly qualified prospective graduate students to participate in an online immersive preview of the Biophysics graduate program at the University of Michigan.

Who Can Participate?

Highly qualified prospective graduate students are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to students from low-income homes, students who are first-generation college students or students whose backgrounds are underrepresented in Academia.

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens or permanent residents or undocumented students with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). All applicants must plan on starting graduate school in Fall 2021.

What to Expect

Throughout the Preview you will have the opportunity to network with important members of the Biophysics research community here at Michigan and get a good look at what life is like as a graduate student and member of a thriving scientific laboratory.

Biophysics Preview participants will attend the annual Biophysics All-Team Retreat also held on Wednesday, August 26.

Begin an online application and submit the following materials by July 27:

  • Application Form
  • Research Statement
  • Unofficial Transcripts (most recent copy)
  • Resume/CV
  • Letter of Recommendation

EXTENDED Application deadline: AUGUST 7

Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis. Students who applied will be notified of their status by August 14.
