What is Biophysics Preview?
Biophysics Preview is a Fall event for prospective graduate students. We will invite approximately six highly qualified prospective graduate students for an all-expense-paid trip to experience the Biophysics graduate program at the University of Michigan.
During the Preview Program, students will have the opportunity to:
- Interact one-on-one with biophysics core and affiliated faculty and current graduate students
- Tour our research facilities in the Chemistry Building
- Receive tips on how to apply to graduate school
- Explore campus and the beautiful city of Ann Arbor
- Attend the Biophysics All-Hands Retreat

Who Can Participate?
Highly qualified prospective graduate students are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to students who meet the eligibility guidelines for the Rackham Merit Fellowship Program.
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens, permanent residents, or undocumented students with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) who are recent college graduates or will graduate no later than spring 2026.
All applicants must intend to apply for admission to the U-M Biophysics doctoral program for the 2026-2027 academic year.
What to Expect
Throughout the Preview visit, you will have the opportunity to network with important members of the Biophysics research community here at Michigan and get a good look at what life is like as a graduate student and member of a thriving scientific laboratory.
Biophysics Preview participants will attend the Biophysics All-Team Retreat.
There is no cost to attend! Travel and housing expenses, including on-campus meals, are provided for students selected for participation in the program.
