The NextProf Science Workshop encourages talented scientists and mathematicians who have demonstrated a commitment to diversity to consider careers in academia.
The workshop is designed to help participants develop strategies for pursuing faculty positions and building successful academic careers. Travel, lodging, and meals are provided.
Listen, Learn, and Network
At NextProf Science, participants will learn about:
- How the faculty search process works
- How to build a successful research program
- How to develop a teaching and mentoring philosophy
- Why professional networks are important
Participants will also have opportunities to expand their professional networks by connecting with colleagues, faculty, and academic leaders from across the country.
During the workshop, participants will spend time with their host departments and meet faculty members who share their research and teaching interests. They will also learn how diverse faculty navigate the challenges and opportunities of research, teaching, and mentoring.
Participants will have the opportunity to speak with successful faculty members about their career goals, experiences, and perspectives on academia.
