The Biophysics Graduate Student Council, or GSC, works to build a supportive, inclusive, and welcoming community for graduate students in the Biophysics program at the University of Michigan.
To strengthen connection and well-being, the GSC hosts social events throughout the year. Past events have included:
- Bowling nights
- Apple picking
- Ice skating
- “Tea Time” gatherings
- Happy hours after seminars
These events provide opportunities for students to relax, connect with peers, and build community within the program.
Community Outreach
The GSC also engages with the broader community through outreach initiatives.
For example, the council has partnered with FEMMES, or Women+ Excelling More in Math, Engineering and the Sciences, to encourage interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, or STEM, among elementary-aged girls in Washtenaw County.
Share Your Ideas
Biophysics graduate students are encouraged to share ideas for events, resources, or initiatives that could make their experience at Michigan more enjoyable, supportive, and productive.
