Steps to Declare

1. Enroll in the Pre-Requisite FTVM 150

Students interested in pursuing a FTVM Major must first enroll in the following prerequistie course:

FTVM 150 - Introduction to Film, Television, and Media  (4 credits)

This course introduces students to different ways of engaging critically with audiovisual media. Students will learn to analyze key aspects of film, television, and digital media, and to develop critical arguments about them that draw on different kinds of evidence. 

FTVM 150 is designed to enhance your critical literacy in film, television, and digital media, and your ability to create well-supported analyses and arguments about media and other cultural forms. 

2. Complete ONE Of The Following To Declare

1. Students are encouraged to attend our fall or winter term declaration event. Students may declare the Department of Film, Television, and Media (FTVM) major at the event if they are achieving a C- or above in the pre-requisite course FTVM 150. 

OR

2. If enrolled in FTVM 150, students may also declare with an advisor anytime after the Add/Drop deadline if they are achieving a C- or above. Once students have completed FTVM 150 with a C- or higher, they may declare with an advisor anytime. 

OR

3. Once students have completed FTVM 150 with a C- or higher, they may declare with an advisor or at a decleration event anytime.
