Studio A is approximately 40 feet wide, 60 feet long, and 24 feet in height. It has a harlequin floor that is suited to smooth camera movement and performance art, and a full lighting grid at 16 feet with an Electronic Theater Controls Ion control console. The northwest corner has a Procyc cyclorama (green) that is approximately 17’ square. Studio A is set up for both live-switched and multi-camera recorded production.
There are three Panasonic AG-HPX500 high definition cameras with the possibility of seven cameras (with the use of the cameras from Studio B). The cameras are mounted on Vinten vision 250 pan/tilt heads on top of Vinten quartz pedestals. Studio A has four Sennheiser wireless microphones, as well as various others available.
Studio A’s control room is approximately 14 feet wide and 24 feet long, and has an audio control booth and announcer booth adjacent. The control room is set up to support a director, assistant director, technical director, video engineer, graphics operator, and a small gallery.
Equipment in the control room includes a Ross Carbonite 2ME production switcher, a Ross Abekas Tria Express video playback server, a four-channel Ross Abekas Tria+ video recording server, an Ultimatte keyer and remote, multi-view monitor, Clear-Com intercom system, two ESE clocks, a Ross Xpression SCE Studio single-channel graphics machine, CueIt teleprompter system, an announcer booth with a Shure SM7b mic, and a Tascam DM-4800 audio mixer/workstation with Apple Logic Pro in the audio booth.
