Senior Lecturer Terri Sarris and FTVM Alums J.B. Armstrong and Josh Gibert Selected for Sundance Institute's Detroit Screenwriters Intensive
With support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Sundance Institute is hosting its inaugural Screenwriters Intensive in Detroit on Saturday, November 7, 2015. The three FTVM participants' projects for the Intensive are as follows: Sarris, A HOUSE ON FIRE (When a house burns down in a quiet Detroit suburb, the fire ignites the lives of isolated neighbors, revealing the consequences of their isolation and the power of community.); Armstrong, SOLOMON (After befriending a retired black psychiatrist, a young white writer searches for the tools he needs to finish his book and face the truth about his dogmatic faith, loveless marriage, and the death of his child.); and Gibert, VANILLA-CHOCOLATE (Driven by painful feelings of alienation, 1960’s black teenager, Cheryl, passes for white and finds acceptance at a ritzy private school. But when a jealous rival with secrets of her own threatens to expose her lie, Cheryl is forced to reconcile her new life with her loyalties to her family and an unrequited love). Congratulations to all of you!
