Summer field courses in geology at the University of Michigan date back to 1873. J. B. Davis officially organizes the field school in 1874. Field courses have been held continuously from that time to the present. They have been taught at locations around Michigan, Kentucky, and Colorado, finally settling in Jackson, Wyoming.
These group photographs have been selected from the Earth and Environmental Sciences archives, now housed at the Bentley Historical Library.
