Welcome to University of Michigan!
Transfer students are students that may or may not yet be admitted to U-M and intending to declare a major in Communication and Media. They are encouraged to meet with our professional advisors after they attend Go Blue Orientation.
Students are also welcome to email commadvisor@umich.edu with any simple questions or in the event that an appointment time is not accessible for them. Students can typically expect to receive a response in 24-48 hours.
We recognize the transition to a new institution can be confusing and overwhelming, so we highly recommend students meet with an advisor as early as possible to understand the department's policies pertaining to transfer credit and major requirements.
Advising Tips for Communication & Media Transfer Students
- Check out our Transfer Credit page for information on how your COMM-related credits may transfer.
- Visit LSA’s Transfer Student Center to develop a timeline and transfer plan and check out the To Transfers, From Transfers Guide to Thriving at the University of Michigan.
The great thing about Communication and Media is that it lets you explore the career path that already interests you, as well as ones that potentially might. As a transfer student, your possibilities at a university like Michigan are endless and the amount of choices you have may seem overwhelming, but the flexibility that Communication and Media offers allows you to take ownership of your degree and make it unique.
