Explore the World with Communication and Media!
There are many opportunities available to students who want to study abroad! Communication and Media majors can use up to 10 (ten) upper-level credits transferred from international or domestic institutions toward the Additional Advanced COMM credit requirement, as long as they have been approved by the department faculty advisor.
Before investing time and money in a program, please confirm that the content of the courses you intend to take is approved as a substantive match to the departmental curriculum by our faculty advisor.
Please visit our Study Abroad Guide for steps on how to apply courses to the Comm and Media major.
Will my courses work? Find your destination.
The courses listed above are from popular destinations and are currently approved for use toward the Additional Advanced COMM credit (elective) requirement. If you find the course(s) you are planning to take on these lists, you do not need to submit them for evaluation as they are already approved.
Please email commadvisor@umich.edu with the course and term for your study abroad so that we can leave a note in your file indicating the approval.
If courses you are interested in are not on the lists above, you can still submit them for approval using the Study Abroad Course Approval Form. Please make sure that you have a current syllabus for each course. The approval process can take between 5-10 business days and you will be notified via email when the request has been approved or denied.
