Does Communication and Media have advising?

Academic advisors in the Department of Communication and Media are available to meet with students throughout the year regarding their Communication and Media major. Please see the chart below to make an appointment with the appropriate advisor. 

Appointment Scheduling

Who can I meet with for advising on the Communication and Media major?

  • High School Students - Students not yet enrolled at U-M looking to learn more about the major, department-specific opportunities, and connecting with current students are encouraged to attend a Communication and Media Major Information Session.
  • Prospective Majors - Students enrolled at U-M and exploring the Communication and Media major are encouraged to attend a Communication and Media Major Information Session and meet virtually with our peer advisors.
  • Transfer Students - Transfer students intending to declare a major in Communication and Media are encouraged to attend a Communication and Media Major Information Session and meet with our professional advisors after they attend Go Blue Orientation. 
  • Declared Majors - Communication and Media majors are encouraged to schedule in-person, virtual, and phone appointments with our faculty and professional advisors.

Students are also welcome to email commadvisor@umich.edu with any simple questions or in the event that an appointment time is not accessible for them. Students can typically expect to receive a response in 24-48 hours.
