Jeffrey E. Evans

Jeffrey Evans is Clinical Associate Professor Emeritus in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a Lecturer in the Residential College, where he recently served as co-head of the First-Year Seminar Program.  He has taught in the RC since the 1970’s.  He recently retired from clinical practice in Rehabilitation Psychology and Neuropsychology at UM Hospital where he provided psychotherapy and assessment for adults with brain injuries and other neurological diseases and chronic illnesses.  Current teaching focusses on the science of creativity and the arts in healthcare.  He is the author or co-author of several articles and chapters on the psychology and neuropsychology of the creative process, on clinical issues including the consequences of traumatic brain injury and cerebral hypoxia, and on cognitive processes involved in task-switching.  He is currently collaborating on “Story Studio,” a project of creative storytelling in which hospital patients record their stories at the bedside.
