Developed by the RC Academic Services team, the RC Career Connections Series (RCCCS) is a professional development initiative connecting Residential College students with RC alumni who have built successful careers in a range of fields.

Through thoughtfully curated, small-scale events held in East Quad, this series seeks to build meaingful connections, opportunties for mentorship, and a stronger community for current students and alumni.

These lunch sessions are structured around career themes, giving students direct access to alumni experiences, practical advice, and networking opportunities. With topics ranging from law and public policy to health administration and creative writing, RCCCS is tailored to reflect the diverse academic paths and interdisciplinary interests of the RC student body.

Fall 2024 & Winter 2025 Highlights:

  • Health Administration & Policy in Government (Nov 8, 2024): Libbie Buchele ('89), with extensive experience in federal health policy and management, offered grounded guidance on navigating careers in public health and government.

  • Graduate School Experience (Feb 12, 2025): Recent alumni Morgan Palmer ('22) and Denise Leyton ('12) discussed graduate education paths in clinical psychology and information sciences, sharing personal journeys and application tips.

  • The Road to Law (Feb 26, 2025): Alumni Lara Finkbeiner ('08) and Maggie Larin ('18) gave candid insights into law school and legal careers, helping students understand how to prepare and thrive in the legal field.

  • The Power of Writing & Ink (Mar 19, 2025): A noteworthy panel of alumni working in writing, editing, and publishing - including Liz Parker Kuhn ('09), Jon Michael Darga ('14), Kaleb Brown ('21), and Anna Clark ('03) - shared their career stories and encouraged students to pursue creative careers with confidence.

Why It Works: Each session balances professional preparation with the RC’s trademark sense of community. Students report feeling more confident about their future, more connected to RC alumni, and better informed about career realities and options.

Thanks to the generosity of former RC Director Tom Weisskopf (1996-2005), the RCCCS continues to grow as a high-impact, student-focused initiative, expanding opportunities for meaningful mentorship and professional insight.
