Summer Peer Advisors

Welcome the Next Class of RC Students

The summer before freshman year is full of questions: what to register for, how orientation works, what the RC is actually like day to day. Summer Peer Advisors are the current students on the other end of those questions, helping incoming RC students get from admitted to ready.

What You'll Do

Working with Academic Services and Student Affairs, you'll:

  • Connect with incoming students through the summer, before they set foot on campus
  • Walk them through orientation and course registration questions
  • Give an honest preview of RC classes, East Quad, and campus life

Why Do It?

Every conversation helps exactly one person figure out their first semester, which makes this the most direct helping role in the RC. You'll get hands-on advising experience, work closely with Academic Services staff all summer, and start the fall already knowing a group of new students who remember you as the person who helped them register. Summer Peer Advising is a paid position. Orientation runs both online and in person, so the role mixes remote work with on-campus sessions.

Interested?

Positions are typically posted during the winter semester for the upcoming summer. Contact Academic Services (rcadvising@umich.edu) if you have questions.
