Admissions Ambassadors

Share Your RC Story

For most prospective students, the campus visit is where the decision gets made. Admissions Ambassadors are the current RC students they meet that day: on tours, on panels, over lunch in East Quad. There's no script. Your job is to give an honest picture of what living and learning here is actually like.

What You'll Do

  • Welcome prospective students and families at Campus Day and other recruitment events

  • Join lunch conversations with visiting students

  • Sit on student panels, in person or virtual

  • Staff info tables and field questions about RC life

  • Share your story in a short student profile on the RC website

You sign up event by event, based on your schedule. There's no fixed weekly commitment.

Who Can Apply?

Any current RC student. Visitors ask about every major, language, and path through the RC, so we want the full mix. You don't need tour guide polish or public speaking experience. If you can talk about your own life here, you're qualified.

Why Do It?

The whole job is telling your own story, so there's nothing to study and no wrong answers. You get comfortable talking to strangers and rooms full of parents, which transfers to every interview you'll ever do. You get to know RC staff and the other ambassadors. And sometimes a first-year will tell you their visit is why they chose the RC. That last one is the real pitch.

Apply

Tell us about yourself and your RC experience by emailing the Director of Residential College Admissions (khein@umich.edu). The Admissions team will follow up with next steps. Questions?
