Whenever we can, we fill roles with RC students, which means some of the best on-campus jobs are right here in East Quad. A lot of these positions fill quietly through office emails or word of mouth, learn more about what job opportunities are available here in the RC, along with the campus and beyond-campus resources worth knowing about.
Work within the RC
These roles open up throughout the year. Many are part of how the RC runs day to day, so keep an eye out:
- Admissions Assistants (AAs)
- Art Gallery Assistants
- Communications Assistants
- PCAP Office Assistants
- Student Academic Services Assistants (SASAs)
- Studio Assistants
- Summer Peer Advisors
- and more... read the weekly student newsletter, where new RC job postings are shared as they become available.
Finding a Job Across Campus
Looking beyond the RC? These are the main places to start:
U-M Student Employment, the central job board for student positions
Work-Study, if it's part of your financial aid package
Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP), for paid research roles
Science Learning Center (SLC), Study Group Facilitator. Lead weekly peer-study groups in natural-science courses: setting agendas, building worksheets, and creating a collaborative space. You'll need a B+ or higher in the course you want to facilitate. About 3 to 4 hours a week at hourly wage.
Math Learning Center (MLC), Tutor and Testing-Lab Proctor. Open to undergrads, rolling basis. Tutors give drop-in and scheduled support for intro math (e.g. Math 105 to 216); proctors supervise testing and computer labs.
Michigan Dining. Roles from baristas to dining-service and support staff. See openings or email foodiejobs@umich.edu.
The RC office also keeps a running resource doc with more links, find it at the bottom of the RC weekly newsletter!
