About
My research explores the intersection between utopia and posthumanism/transhumanism, conceiving of utopia as a becoming-with construction of an alternative. Using science fiction texts of early twentieth century Spain, my dissertation observes the notion of hispanidad (Spanishness) as a utopian desire rather than myth from the dialogue between posthumanism/transhumanism and ideology critique, space theory, psychoanalysis, and colonialism. My interest in science fiction is not reduced to Spain, but also covers Latin American and U.S. Latinx science fiction.
At UM, I have also earned a Graduate Certificate in Film, Television and Media. I am interested in media technology, obsolescence and the postdigital, as well as in extended reality and video games. Other research areas are digital humanities, second language acquisition and Spanish in/and Asia. I am also a certified DELE examiner (A1-C2), a SIELE trainer and an accredited teacher (DADIC-A) by the Cervantes Institute.
