I am a Latin American resercher specializing in Cuba, Caribbean and Latinx Studies.
My book project "Actos en común: interrupciones y comunidades en el teatro cubano y cubanoamericano (1970-2020)" addresses the emancipatory dimension of theater and performance through plays staged in Havana, New York, and Miami from the 1970s to the present. I argue that contemporary theater productions challenge notions of community and national ulity and create a space for audiences to envision differently what it menas to be Cuban or Cuban American in a post'1959 revolutionary context. I analize plays by theater groups such as Teatro El Público ad El Ciervo Encantado and plays by Rogelio Orizondo, Ulises Rodrigues Febles, Carlos Celdran, Ivan Acosta, Dolores Prida, and Nilo Cruz.
Regarding teaching, I am focused on simulation-based learning techniques, anti-racist pedagogies, and universal learning design.Other research and teaching interest convey México and the Andean Region.
